After two weeks of endless interviews, phone calls, and e-mail communication, the IB Club has finally made a decision on 4 first year representatives. Thank you to all 40+ applicants who applied for the club and we hope that you all had an amazing experience through this hiring process. The International Business Club is proud to present its first ever Language Group Kick Off! Here you'll get to learn about the different language groups available and get the opportunity to join some of several language groups.
The night's guest speaker is Dr. Derek Carr, Associate Professor Emeritus, Department of French, Hispanic and Italian Studies. We will have one more speaker from the Society of Translators and Interpreters in B.C.

The UBC International Business Club is hiring coordinators for our Spanish and German Language Groups.
Responsibilities
• Planning culture and language related events to engage group members in learning a specific language and culture
• Establishing and maintaining partnerships between language groups and related cultural clubs
Expectations
• Be driven and self motivated
• Have in-depth understanding of a specific language and culture
• Effective English communication skills
• Peer support and event planning experience an asset

Global Ink is looking for submissions on the topic of economic development, but if you have an idea that's related to international business, not economic development, submit anyway and it might get used in a later edition. There is also going to be a contest with a cash prize of $250 for the article that is the most well-written and engaging. Articles, essays, and interviews will be accepted. Deadline is Oct. 15, 2009 (tonight at midnight). If you are interested, send a message to info@ibclub.ca and more information will follow.
